南方古猿露西出土41年 Google首頁致敬

（中央社台北24日電）誰是南方古猿「露西」（Lucy）？她是至今發現最古老的人科動物，有「人類的母親」之稱。今天是「露西」骨骸出土41週年，Google首頁放上人類從猿猴進化成直立行走的歷程圖，來向她致敬。

英國「獨立報」（The Independent）今天報導，11月24日是南方古猿阿法種（Australopithecusafarensis）「露西」骨骸在衣索比亞出土41週年，1973年發現的骨骸算是相當完整，其中4成完好無缺，不像其他同時代化石那樣殘缺不全且諸多破損。

考古學家挖出「露西」後，宣布她屬於先前不知名的物種，320萬年前生活在衣索比亞。

「露西」在考古學上占有一席之地，她特別在哪裡？發現她為何被譽為考古學上的重要時刻，從以下5點或許可略知一二。

1. 以披頭四名曲「Lucy in the Sky withDiamonds」命名

考古學家喬韓森（Donald Johanson）發現「露西」之後，回到考古隊駐紮的營地。他把披頭四的卡帶放進錄音機裡，當時放的第1首曲子，就是「Lucy in theSky with Diamonds」，於是1名成員說，應該把這些骨骸取名「露西」。

喬韓森告訴英國廣播公司（BBC）：「突然之間，她就變成1個人了。」

2.直立行走

「露西」最重要的特徵之一，是她行走的方式。考古學家研究她的骨骼，特別觀察膝蓋與脊椎彎曲的結構後，發現「露西」大部分時間是用雙腳行走，和人類極為類似。

3.沒人知道她怎麼死的

考古學家對「露西」的死因所知甚少，幾乎沒有線索能提供有力的答案。

她的骨骼沒有太多齒痕，顯示她不是被其他動物咬死，死後其他動物也沒咬食她的腐肉。她的左恥骨有個食肉動物的齒痕，但不清楚那是在她死前或死後留下。

4. 「露西」目前「住在」衣索比亞，距離她被發現的地方不遠

「露西」的骨骸目前並未公開展示，而是放在衣索比亞首都阿迪斯阿貝巴（Addis Ababa）衣索比亞國立博物館1個特製的保險箱裡。現在供展覽的是複製品。

5.「露西」很矮

南方古猿阿法種或許會直立行走，長相有點像人類，但身材卻比現在的人類嬌小許多。露西「紅顏薄命」，但死時已是發育成熟的成年人。她身高只有110公分，體重29公斤。（譯者：中央社鄭詩韻）1041124
